Hazrat Maulana Qari Mohammad Taiyab (Rahamatullah Aley) belonged to Nanotavi family. He had tremendous ability to take people belonging to various schools of Islamic jurisprudence, classes and organisations along. He ably accomplished the task of uniting diverse sections of Muslim society. His moderate, sympathetic and balanced personality provided an axis of convergence to disparate people and groups. He was unanimously elected as the first President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He continued to lead the biggest platform of Indian Muslim community- the All India Muslim Personal Law Board till his death. During his presidency the Board accomplished many important tasks and achieved many milestones.

Besides being the President of the Board, Hazrat Maulana Qari Mohammad Taiyab (Rahamatullah Aley) also remained Muhtamim of Asia's biggest Islamic institution of learning the Darul Uloom, Deoband for 58 years. During this period Darul Uloom, Deoband progressed in leaps and bounds in every sense of the word. It acquired a formidable reputation throughout the world in the field of Islamic learning. He relentlessly pursued the course of academic excellence and kept the Darul Uloom away from every other activity. Darul Uloom, Deoband celebrated its centenary celebrations during his period.

He possessed extraordinary skills preaching and lectures. His sermons and lectures affected change of hearts in the millions of people. His lectures and sermons were full of wisdom.

He was also a prolific writer. He authored around 100 books. He was embodiment of the values he preached and stood for. He was popular in all sections of Muslim society because of his moderate and balance approach.
